Glitter Paint relies on light to activate its reflective particles, proper lighting is essential to achieving maximum sparkle. In low-light environments, the finish reads as soft and subtle; when light sources – natural or artificial – strike the surface, the fine glitters reflect off of the light and come to life, creating movement, contrast, and visual interest across the wall. Strategic placement of lighting can dramatically enhance the overall effect.
For clients seeking increased brilliance, the finish can be further customized by introducing additional fine glitter into the second coat, allowing the level of sparkle to be tailored to the space and lighting conditions. Once cured, Crystal Brush delivers a durable, low-maintenance finish that brings a refined, contemporary glow to both residential and commercial interiors.
Crystal Brush transforms interior surfaces into dynamic, eye-catching finishes that sparkle and shift with the light. Its fine glitter particles create a multi-dimensional effect that varies depending on viewing angle and illumination, producing subtle or bold sparkle as desired. Each coat layers effortlessly, allowing for customization of brilliance and depth, while maintaining a subtle refined texture that accentuates walls, ceilings, and architectural details.
Crystal Brush Glitter Paint is the ideal solution when you want walls, ceilings, or architectural features to sparkle, shimmer, and come alive in ways that traditional flat or satin paints simply cannot achieve. Its fine, reflective glitter particles create dynamic, light-responsive surfaces, allowing you to add depth, dimension, and decorative flair to any interior. While standard interior paints provide uniform color, they lack the ability to interact with light or produce visual movement. Crystal Brush fills this niche beautifully – combining the ease of brush or spray application with the visual complexity of a multidimensional, shimmering finish. Designers and homeowners can customize the sparkle level by adding additional fine glitters to create a finish that ranges from subtle sophistication to bold, eye-catching brilliance. Unlike conventional paints, Crystal Brush glitter paint doesn’t just coat a surface – it transforms it into a reflective, decorative feature that responds to natural and artificial light. The result is a refined, high-impact finish that enriches any space, making it perfect for accent walls, ceilings, niches, and architectural details where a touch of glamour and sparkle is desired.
APPLICATION TIPS:
Application Conditions – Apply only under temperate conditions: between 50°F and 90°F, and with relative humidity between 25% and 75%, to ensure proper curing and consistent sparkle.
Surface Preparation – All surfaces must be clean and free of dust, dirt, oils and grease. Make sure the surface is sound and free of loose and flaking paint. Priming the substrate with a tinted primer or a flat paint is highly recommended, and do not paint over shiny, smooth surfaces, such as plastic or gloss paints, unless prepared with the right primer.
Brush Application – Crystal Brush should be applied with a high-quality brush. Apply two coats in a cross-hatch pattern to achieve an organic, multidimensional sparkle with natural variation. Brushing naturally leaves subtle brush marks in the finish, enhancing texture, depth, and color variation of the finish. While brushing is preferred, smaller areas can be initially rolled for efficiency. If rolling, it is essential to immediately back-brush in a cross-hatch pattern to evenly distribute the glitter and preserve the characteristic movement of the finish. Avoid using only a roller, as applying too much pressure in one area and too little in another will prevent the glitter from dispersing evenly, resulting in an uneven sparkle and inconsistent coverage across the surface. By following this method, every surface achieves the signature light-responsive sparkle of Crystal Brush, with consistent coverage, visual depth, and refined texture across walls, ceilings, and architectural details.
Spray Application – Crystal Brush can be spray applied using an HVLP sprayer with a tip size between 3–4. Spraying provides a uniform coverage across the surface, producing an even layer of glitter without the color variation or texture created by brushing. This method is ideal for larger areas or when a perfectly consistent sparkle is desired.
While spraying creates a flawless, uniform appearance, it does not produce the organic texture, brush marks, or multidimensional movement that hand-brushing achieves. For designers seeking a controlled, even sparkle, spraying is highly effective, but for those who want the characteristic variation and depth of the finish, brushing should be incorporated.
Topcoat caution: Do not apply a protective topcoat over Crystal Brush, as this will dull the reflective glitter and reduce the signature sparkle effect.
BRUSH APPLICATION TUTORIAL
Surface Preparation – Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free of dust, dirt, oils, and grease before applying Crystal Brush. The substrate should be solid, stable, and free from any loose or peeling paint. For best results, prime the surface with a tinted primer, especially on previously painted walls. Avoid applying directly over smooth, glossy surfaces such as plastic or high-gloss paints unless they are properly prepared with the appropriate primer.
Mixing Instructions – Before beginning, stir Crystal Brush thoroughly in the can to ensure the glitter is evenly dispersed throughout the paint. This step is essential to achieve consistent sparkle across your surface.
First Coat:
Apply Crystal Brush using a high-quality brush with a cross-hatch technique, working in thin, even layers to fully cover the surface. Ensure the glitter is evenly dispersed throughout each stroke to avoid patchiness. Allow the first coat to dry completely for at least 4 hours before applying the second coat.
Second Coat:
Once the first coat is fully dry, apply the second coat using the same cross-hatch brush technique, making sure the surface is evenly covered. To achieve a higher sparkle finish, you may incorporate additional fine glitter – up to 8 ounces per gallon – directly into the second coat. Work the coat evenly to distribute the glitter consistently across the surface. Allow the second coat to dry for at least 4 hours.
It is not recommended to apply a topcoat over Crystal Brush, as this will dull the reflective glitter and reduce the sparkle in the finish.

Glitter paint is highly light-reactive, meaning its sparkle and visual impact depend on lighting conditions. Natural daylight creates a soft shimmer, while directional artificial lighting, such as spotlights or LED strips – enhances reflection and creates a more dramatic sparkle effect. Proper lighting placement is key to maximizing the finish.
