Meoded Sapphire Metallic Paint Sahara effect is a unique Low VOC pearlescent paint that gives walls, metal, trim, furniture or any other paintable surface a rich, opulent look of shimmering satin. Whether in homes, offices, or commercial spaces, Sapphire Metallic will give surrounding areas an heir of sophistication fitting even for royalty. Meoded is the paint and plaster leader in color, texture, style, and innovation, and Sapphire Metallic was developed as the finishing touch for all decorating projects. Sapphire Metallic Paint is an advanced water-based formula made with fine mica powders giving surfaces a beautiful pearl luster with less environmental impact.

Meoded Sapphire Metallic Paint Sahara Effect is supplied in colored bases from which custom colors can be created. It is recommended to use as dark a base as possible to achieve custom colors because over saturation with pigment can cause the paint to lose its metallic effect. Using a Zero VOC colorant will keep custom tinted Sapphire Metallic Low VOC.

Sahara Effect:

Meoded’s Sapphire Metallic is combined with clear glass beads (#5 and #10) to create a beautiful “liquid wallpaper” finish called the Sahara Effect. The Sahara Effect creates a pearlescent rough yet elegant texture on your wall.

Tinting:

The actual Sapphire Metallic Paint Sahara Effect color may differ from the computer screen. Test product in a small area before application.

Application

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces must be clean and free of dust, dirt, oils and grease. Make sure the surface is sound and free of loose and flaking paint. Priming the substrate is highly recommended, and do not paint over shiny, smooth surfaces, such as plastic or glossy oil-based paints, unless prepared with the right primer.

Sahara Lines Application Method:

Base coat: It is recommended to roll a Sapphire Metallic base coat or a matching color eggshell paint. For full dry time wait 12 hours.
Second Coat: Add 2.5 lbs. of glass beads to 1 gallon of Sapphire Metallic paint and stir well. Use a 4” brush to coat the surface creating either horizontal, vertical or diagonal lines. Immediately after, take a clean brush to smoothen the surface and straighten the lines.

Sahara Fabric Application Method:

The fabric technique uses a rigato tool to design the Sahara fabric look with horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines.
First coat: Add 2.5 lbs. of glass beads to 1 gallon of Sapphire Metallic paint and stir well. Use a 4” brush to coat the surface creating horizontal lines. Immediately after, use a rigato tool to smoothen the surface and straighten the lines. Once the lines have been straightened, take a clean brush to smoothen the lines once again. For full dry time wait 12 hours.
Second Coat: Use a 4” brush to coat the surface creating vertical lines. Immediately after, use a rigato tool to smoothen the surface and straighten the lines. Once the lines have been straightened, take a clean 4” brush to smoothen the lines once again.

Exterior Application:

It is recommended to protect Sapphire Metallic with Meoded Cristallo Clear Matte or Semi-Gloss for exterior applications. Two coats will usually provide adequate protection, while three coats are recommended for high traffic areas.

Characteristics

Dry Times:

Recoat time is approx. 3 hours; dry time is approx. 6-8 hours. Full cure can take up to 7 days.

Cleanup:

Clean rollers, brushes, tools, and equipment with warm, soapy water immediately after use.

VOC:

Material contains less than 50 grams per liter (0.278 lb. /gal.) Volatile Organic Compounds.

Coverage

Covers approx. 140-180 sq. ft. per gallon; 75 sq. ft. per quart using the Sahara Fabric technique. Covers approx. 150-220 sq. ft. per gallon; 50 sq. ft. per quart using the Sahara Line technique. Sapphire Metallic is a semi-transparent material, so it is important to note that basecoat color can affect final color. Test a small area to make sure you receive desirable results.
