Product Overview
EcoMortar® Finish F2.0 is a dry, ready-mix lime mortar made with Saint-Astier® Natural Hydraulic Lime NHL 2.0. Engineered as a finishing coat for historic or sensitive structures, it offers excellent breathability, flexibility, and adhesion — all without the use of cement or synthetic additives. EcoMortar® Finish F2.0 is crafted for restoration projects where existing masonry surfaces are aged, delicate, or friable. It provides a gentle, breathable finishing coat that bonds softly without disturbing underlying layers, making it perfect for conservation work where preserving the original structure is essential. As it sets, it gradually transforms into stone, reinforcing the building while respecting its original character. This isn’t just about repair — it’s about thoughtful restoration, bringing strength and life back to historic walls without overwriting their past.
Key Benefits
● Vapour Permeable: Facilitates moisture movement, reducing the risk of trapped moisture and associated damage.
● Cement-Free Composition: Composed solely of natural hydraulic lime, ensuring compatibility with historic masonry and sustainable building practices.
● Enhanced Elasticity: Offers superior flexibility compared to cementitious products, accommodating minor structural movements.
● Environmentally Friendly: Produced with lower energy than cementitious mixes and contributes to CO₂ re-absorption during curing.
● Contains Zero VOC
Recommended Applications
● Historic Restoration: Formulated for delicate masonry and aged substrates, EcoMortar® F2.0 bonds gently without disrupting historic fabric — ideal for conservation work where breathability and authenticity matter.
● Finishing Coat for Lime Renders: Serves as the final, breathable layer in traditional lime render systems, offering durability, flexibility, and long-term performance without cement.
● Sustainable Building: Made with pure NHL 2.0 and no synthetic additives, EcoMortar® F2.0 is ideal for eco-conscious new builds that require a soft-drying plaster—preserving the substrate beneath without pulling or damaging the surface.

Application Guidelines
MIXING SECTION
Mix for 4 to 5 minutes with a whisk mixer (450 to 500 rpm). High-speed mixers (more than 500 rpm) are not recommended as they can over-mix the product and modify its performance. Manual mixing is not recommended.
WATER ADDITION
EcoMortar Finish requires approximately 1.3 – 1.7 gallons (167-217 fl. oz.) of water per 35kg (77lb) bag, depending on desired workability and application type. Add water gradually until desired consistency is achieved.
CONSUMPTION / COVERAGE
Finish Coat: Approximately 80-105 sq. ft. per coat at 3-5mm (1/8″-1/5″) thickness, depending on surface porosity and texture. When used as a finishing coat, make sure that the base coat is leveled, dry and sufficiently hardened to accept the finishing coat. For uneven or exposed surfaces, multiple coats may be necessary, allowing each layer to firm up before the next.
Renders: Approx. 0.83 lbs per sq. ft at 1/8″ thickness, depending on substrate and application method.
Pointing Coverage: (for joints approx. 3/8″ wide x 3/4″ deep) Up to 365 linear feet per 35kg (77lb) bag.
APPLICATION NOTES
Apply only to fully cured, clean, and dampened substrates. Do not apply over frozen surfaces or in direct sun on hot days. Substrate should provide adequate mechanical keying (e.g., open texture or light scored surface). Apply at a thickness of 3-5mm (approximately 1/8″ to 1/5″). For thicker applications, use multiple passes, allowing each coat to partially set before the next. When applying over EcoMortar® Base, allow the base to cure for at least 5 to 7 days. Lightly mist the surface 20 minutes prior to applying EcoMortar® Finish. For masonry pointing applications, ensure joints are clean, free of dust or debris, and lightly dampened before applying the mortar. Protect fresh work from wind, direct sun, freezing temperatures, and rain during initial curing. Cure times may vary depending on temperature, humidity, and substrate conditions.
WORKING TEMPERATURE
Apply between 8°C and 30°C (46°F to 86°F). Lightly dampen substrates before application. Avoid rapid drying from heat or wind; cure gently with water misting if needed. Protect fresh mortar from frost and drying winds for at least 10 days after application. Seal opened bags immediately after use. On hot or windy days, lightly mist the surface every few hours for the first couple of days to prevent premature drying.
TOOLS & CLEAN-UP
Apply using a steel trowel or plastering float. Clean tools with water before material hardens.
