Apply with a box brush in multi-directional strokes for depth and movement. Two coats are recommended, allowing at least 8 hours of dry time between coats. For best results, new drywall should first be primed with a PVA primer before applying Meoded Lime Wash Base Coat. Previously painted surfaces with a flat finish can be coated directly with Lime Wash Base Coat, while surfaces with sheen require a multipurpose primer prior to the base coat.
For high-traffic areas like kitchens or bathrooms, allow the Lime Wash to dry for at least 3 days, and seal it with three coats of Stain Shield, a natural look sealer that preserves the color, sheen and soft matte texture of the finish while providing protection from moisture & dirt.
Versatility:
Dilute with water for a translucent wash on brick, stone, concrete, or plaster.
Coverage:
Approx. 1 gallon covers up to 200-300 sq. ft. for two coat application, depending on surface porosity and application style.
Key Benefits:
Interior & exterior use
Meoded Lime Wash Paint is the perfect choice for creating walls with character, history, and soul — a finish that’s as authentic today as it was centuries ago.
Interior Application:
Surface Preparation – Surface should be clean from loose or flaking particles, dirt, mildew, oil, grease, chalk, and efflorescence. Previously gloss surfaces should be sanded, cleaned, primed with multi-purpose primer before applying Lime Wash Base Coat. Drywall needs a PVA primer prior to application for Lime Wash Base Coat. For interior applications, it is recommended to apply two coats of Meoded Lime Wash Base Coat.
First Coat – Apply the first coat of Lime Wash with a Meoded Lime Wash brush in a cross-hatch or multi directional pattern. Always maintain a wet edge throughout the application. Lime Wash will dry lighter, like plaster, and will show a dry edge mark if allowed to dry mid-way. Allow a minimum of 8 hours for the first coat to dry.
Second Coat – Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first. If a more uniform design is desired, apply a third coat.
Sealer – After allowing the finish to dry for at least 48-72 hours, apply 2–3 coats of Meoded Stain Shield natural-look sealer in high-traffic areas to enhance water resistance and protect the surface.
Exterior Application:
For exterior applications over porous surfaces such as brick, cement, stucco, etc., it is recommended to dilute the first coat of Lime Wash with 10% water. Apply the first coat of Lime Wash with a Meoded Lime Wash brush. After the first coat is dry, lightly dampen the first coat with a sponge with clean water. Avoid leaking as it can stain the product. The surface should appear slightly darker and not wet before applying the second coat. Apply the second coat in the same manner as the first.
Lime Wash is a unique slaked limestone mineral paint that creates a beautiful, weathered plaster-like finish on almost any interior and exterior surface. Meoded Lime Wash is formulated to easily achieve a matte, mottled finish with a soft touch using a two-coat brush application. As the carbonation process begins, the lime ‘blooms’ to create natural color variations with slight streaking.
Perfect for drywall, plaster, masonry, brick, stone, and previously painted surfaces. When applied over smooth, absorbent plaster walls, it can even be polished for added depth and sheen — blending the character of lime with the elegance of Venetian Plaster.
Quart – covers approximately 50-75 sq ft for 2 coat application.
Gallon – covers approximately 200-300 sq ft for 2 coat application.
Coverage depends on surface porosity and texture.
Check color before use. Stir Lime Wash thoroughly before and during use. Interior and Exterior applications require a different technique. Exterior Lime Wash must be cured before rain or cold weather. Lime Wash should not be applied below 55°F, in excessive heat over 85°F or direct sun.

Curing – Lime is a natural product and hardens overtime. To cure the lime faster and create more mottling, allow the final coat to dry between 8-12 hours. Then, lightly mist spray with water or dampen the surface with a sponge, avoid dripping. Repeat this process until desired finish is achieved. For exterior applications, it is recommended to allow a minimum of 7 days dry time before being exposed to rain or extreme cold weather.
Sealer – After a minimum of 48 hours of dry time, it is recommended to protect the finish with 2-3 layers of Meoded Stain Shield natural look sealer to make the finish more water repellent.
